The 2022/2023 Lake Tahoe ski season is right around the corner! After this last heat wave, we are all super excited to see temperatures cool off and return to normal in the Lake Tahoe basin.

As we say goodbye to summer and move into fall, this is an excellent time to get your season pass at the local ski resorts, sometimes for discounted prices. Many of the area resorts have also added additional high-speed lifts or other upgrades for the 2022/2023 season.

Boreal Mountain

Boreal Mountain combines skiing with Woodward’s year-round activities. It has become Donner Summit’s hub for adventure, with 16 acres of outdoor parks and lift-served mountain bike trails. They also have a 33,000 square foot indoor action sports hub called the Bunker.

While Boreal is smaller than other area ski resorts, kids will enjoy the other activities the resort now offers. For the 2022/2023 ski season, adult Ski Passes are $549 with Night Passes for only $339. More Information

Alpine Meadows

Last season, Alpine Meadows opened a new chair called The Treeline Cirque. This high-speed quad makes it easier to get from the base to Sherwood Ridge. The back of Alpine Meadows’ is home to the resort’s biggest and widest bowls. These runs have incredible views of Lake Tahoe and can provide some epic powder turns or perfect spring corn.

Before the new chairlift was opened, getting out to Sherwood Express and the backside required a long traverse along Ray’s Rut. This was a hike from Summit over the High Traverse, or the ride on the ironically named Hot Wheels Chair that took nearly 15 minutes to the top.

With the new Treeline Cirque Express, you can be on the backside quickly and easily in less than 10 minutes! Additionally, Alpine Meadows will be connected to Palisades Tahoe by way of a new Gondola.

Palisades Tahoe

Alpine Meadows and Palisades Tahoe will now be linked by a base to base gondola. Costing over $65 million to complete, riders can get to either area within 16 minutes. Enjoy 2.4 miles of stunning terrain as you travel from Palisades Tahoe to Alpine Meadows. This should also alleviate HWY 89 congestion. Once you park, you don't need a shuttle or a car.

This will also make Palisades Tahoe the 3rd largest ski area in North America. Additionally, the Red Dog lift is being upgraded from a three-person lift to a high-speed six-person lift.

The Red Dog base terminal is moving east to a new location that will give skiers and riders direct access to the lift from the parking lot. The lift will pass over the Far East Express and terminate in the same location it does now.

Ski both Alpine Meadows and Palisades Tahoe with one pass. Adults passes are $1499, young adult passes are $1199 and children under 12 get passes for $829. More Information

Northstar California

The Comstock Express has been upgraded from a four-person lift to a high-speed, six-person lift. They promote this upgrade as reducing wait times and increasing capacity 50%.

Season Passes are $879 to access multiple resorts with no blackout dates. The same pass excluding holiday skiing is $655. More Information
