Parking Reservations Palisades Tahoe and Northstar

car in snow

We began October with a dusting of snow above 8600 feet at Lake Tahoe. Forecasts for the later part of the month show the possibility of more snow showers at higher elevations. This will be an El Nino winter, which usually predicts slightly higher than normal snowfall.

As we look forward to the 2023/2024 ski season at Northstar California and Palisades Tahoe, it is important to know that both resorts will be implementing reservation-based parking programs this winter. Both will offer a combination of free and paid parking in an effort to minimize congestion.

It will be necessary to make reservations well in advance to find available parking during peak ski days, such as Christmas and President’s day weekend. Below are the details for parking reservations at both resorts.

Northstar California Ski Resort

Utilizing a third-party parking management company, parking attendants will support this new parking system – including parking transactions as appropriate and carpool validations. Northstar will begin accepting reservations in November at http://www.parknorthstar.com.

Reservations for the Village View lot will be free for vehicles with 4+ occupants, and $20 for vehicles with 3 or fewer occupants.

For the Lower Village Preferred Paid lot, reservations will now be required on weekends and peak periods, however, the fees to park in this lot will remain the same as winter 2022/23: $20 during the week and $40 on weekends and peak periods, regardless of how many occupants are in a single vehicle.

Each guest may hold five reservations at one time. Once a reservation has been used, guests can add another to their account to return back to five at any one time. There is no limit to how many reservations a guest can make throughout the course of the season.

Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort

In an effort to mitigate traffic on regional roadways during peak times, there will be a new reservation-based parking system at Palisades Tahoe this winter season. On Saturdays, Sundays, and select holidays, a parking reservation will be required for ALL parking lots.

Free Parking Midweek

On Monday through Friday, parking is free at both Palisades and Alpine. You can just show up on Monday through Friday. Parking will be first come, first served. Reservations are NOT required midweek, with the exception of some holiday blackout dates.

Free Reserved Parking

On Saturdays, Sundays & Select Holidays, reservations are required. FREE parking reservations for the coming weekend will open every Tuesday. Inventory for the coming weekend will be released at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. Free parking reservations will be released every Tuesday with 50% released at 12:00 p.m. and the remaining 50% released at 7:00 p.m. for the upcoming weekend or holiday period.

Advance Paid Parking Reservations

This is the best option for guests who need to reserve Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays WELL IN ADVANCE. Paid reservations are $30 per spot, per day. For example, if you want to ensure a spot for Christmas, you can choose a paid reservation advance when they open in October. Otherwise, you can book a free reservation on the Tuesday beforehand.

Reserved Paid Parking

All paid parking reservations for the entire season will be made available on their website in the Fall (exact date to be announced) with prices starting at $30 per space. The total reservations that can be held by a guest at any given point in time is 10. As reservations are cancelled or utilized, additional reservations up to the cap of 10 will be automatically available per parking account. Further details regarding the reservation procedure and arrival instructions at the resort will be provided soon.

Please Note: Free parking reservations for December 23rd to 31st will open on December 19th. For February 17th to 25th, reservations will be available on February 13th.
