Summer Activities North Lake Tahoe | Truckee
It’s official! The long and epic winter has been melting away into a glorious summer at Lake Tahoe. North Lake Tahoe and Truckee offer a plethora of summer activities for visitors to enjoy.
Here are some of my favorites:
Water Sports: Lake Tahoe is known for its crystal-clear waters, making it ideal for various water sports. You can go swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, jet skiing, or rent a boat for a day of sailing or fishing. If you want adventure, why not try parasailing?
Beaches: Spend a relaxing day on one of Lake Tahoe's beautiful beaches. Some popular choices include Kings Beach, Sand Harbor, and Commons Beach in Tahoe City. Enjoy sunbathing, picnicking, playing beach volleyball, or simply taking in the stunning scenery. Check out the Concert at the Beach free music series at Commons Beach.
Hiking and Biking: Lake Tahoe offers numerous trails that cater to all skill levels. Explore the scenic beauty of the area by hiking or biking along the Tahoe Rim Trail, Northstar California, or Tahoe XC Trails. You can also rent mountain bikes and enjoy the thrilling downhill trails. Check out the extensive back country mountain bike trails at Tahoe XC.
Golfing: Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round of golf at one of the many golf courses surrounding Lake Tahoe. The Coyote Moon Golf Course, Old Brockway Golf Course, and Incline Village Championship Golf Course are popular choices. Check out Truckee’s Old Greenwood Golf Course.
River Rafting: The snowpack melt has the Truckee River Rafting company on hold until at least June. The Truckee River is a great place to cool off during the heat of the summer. Enjoy the thrill of navigating rapids while enjoying the scenic beauty along the river. Explore their opening dates here.
Horseback Riding: Ride through the picturesque landscapes of Lake Tahoe on horseback. Several stables in the area offer guided horseback rides suitable for riders of all levels. Check out Alpine Meadows scenic horseback rides.

Outdoor Concerts and Events: During the summer, Lake Tahoe hosts a variety of outdoor concerts, festivals, and events. Check the local events calendar for live music, art festivals, and other cultural events happening during your visit.
The winter brought more snow than we have seen in years, but we are so excited to feel summer in the air! The cool, fresh air and smell of pine make Lake Tahoe the place to be this summer!
